About Allspice - Ground

Also known as Jamaica pepper, Allspice is so-called because when it was discovered back in the 17th Century by the English in the Antilles, they thought it combined the flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. The peppercorn-looking fruit is pickled and dried, and then crushed and ground. Essential for any Caribbean dish, especially jerk seasoning, and also for some Middle Eastern stews and dishes.
