About Gumbo File

Gumbo File Also known as File Powder, this is a the dried and ground leaves of the Sassafras tree. It is used as a seasoning for gumbo (of course), and also in many Cajun and Creole stews that are served with rice. It also acts as a thickening agent for soups and stews.
