Foolproof Chocolate Cake Recipe Instructions

  • 1 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup + 2 tbsp white flour
  • 7/8 cup dark cacao powder
  • 1 and ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • Zest and juice of 1 orange
  • ¾ cup dark chocolate, melted

  1. Preheat the oven 350F
  2. Grease 2 cake molds
  3. Sift into a bowl the flour, the cacao, brown sugar, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt
  4. Add the butter by spoonful mixing with a fork until it mixes
  5. Add the eggs one a time and mix well after each one
  6. Pour the maple syrup, the milk and the zest and orange juice.
  7. Divide between the two prepared cake molds and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until you put a skewer in the center and it comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool and unmold.
