What we call manufactured caviar is not actually true fish eggs, but rather fish products processed to look like caviar and roe in looks and flavor. Typically, it begins with some type of fish like herring, or other seafood, like lobster, which is pressed and processed to make a delicious-tasting product that is molded to look like caviar.
